The workshop will be delivered by a Jalview coordinator James Procter from University of Dundee.
This workshop course employs talks and hands-on exercises to help researchers start using the versatile protein and nucleic acid alignment and visualisation software Jalview (developed within the School of Life Sciences). Over two sessions, we will cover launching Jalview, accessing sequence, alignment and 3D structure databases, creating, editing and analysing alignments, phylogenetic trees, visualisation of 3D structure data, and preparation of figures for presentation and publication.

Minor release in 2.10 series. More memory efficient, new features for selecting from linked structure views, minor patches to amino acid and consensus calculations and handling of structure files.
If you are running Jalview 2.10.0 under Ubuntu or some other (possibly GTK based) Linux desktop, you may find that after opening the Sequence Fetcher, you are presented with a dialog box just showing 'OK' and 'Cancel' buttons, but nothing much else. The empty panel is due to an underlying problem with Java, but you can still choose from the list of databases with the keyboard !
Ensembl client for genes, transcripts and variants. SIFTS and mmCIF for accurate multi-chain structure mapping, and lots more.
Protein, RNA and DNA multiple sequence alignment and functional analysis workshop using Jalview
This one day computer based hands-on training course is designed for life sciences graduate students and researcher scientists who works with proteins, RNA and DNA sequence data. The course will involve presentations, hands-on exercises and demonstrations. Plus, there are opportunities during the day to discuss your own analysis problems with the Jalview developers. Participants are given a Jalview training manual.
